3. How to import a file to the website

This step is optional, for users who wish to import a list of contacts directly into the web account. If you wish to skip this step, you can do so now.

The import feature is useful for those who do not use Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes or Palm Desktop PIM (Personal Information Manager) software to manage their contacts, yet have a list somewhere on their PC and want to download this list to the phonebook.

The following will be covered:

Download a .csv template proven to line up correctly
How to import to the website
Other tips (including designating contacts to download to phone)

Download a .csv template

The quickest, cleanest and easiest way to utilize import is to take whatever database you may have, whether it's a spreadsheet in Excel, ACT, or other database, export that database into a .csv (comma separated value file), open it in Excel, and then copy/paste the data into the following .csv template (exported from MS Outlook as an Excel .csv file), which you can download from here. This has proven to have the most consistent result.

You can also simply try to convert your existing list into a .csv (comma separated value) file from whatever program you're using, then import it to your Remoba web account, but sometimes the data doesn't line up correctly. If it doesn't, you can simply import a new list, once you've converted it using the above template, which will then overwrite the previous one you tried to import.

How to import to the website

* Log into your Remoba web account

* Click on the sync/import tab, as shown below:

* Scroll down the page to option 2: import.

Step 1 in this option gives you instructions on how to Export from Outlook, Outlook Express. If you already have a .csv file, either from the template provided above, or from elsewhere, skip step 1.

Step 2 is where you will get the .csv file for import. Click the "browse" button and locate your .csv list. Then highlight and select it, or double click on it.

Step 3: Press the "Import Now" button to import the file.

Other tips

Once import is completed, click on the "contacts" tab to view the contacts to see if the list imported properly. If successful, any emails will be located and underlined under the username. Numbers that will download successfully to the phone will either be:

H for home, M for Mobile, F for Fax, or B for Business. M2, H2, B2 (Mobile 2, Home 2 and Business 2) contacts won't download to the phone.

You now need to designate contacts to download-to-phone. To do this, select those contacts you wish to go to the phone, keeping in mind that some phones won't have enough memory to take all of them. See the supported phones page for information about your phone.

To select contacts to designate "download-to-phone":

Click in the check box for each contact (or select all) on that web page, and then click the "download to phone" link. This will designate those contacts to download to the phone, once you initiate the sync/download to phone from iPhonebook in your phone.

For that, continue reading for instructions on getting started with iPhonebook in your mobile phone.
